Miklós Herdon (PhD) works at University of Debrecen as the head of Economic Analysis Methodology and Applied Informatics Institute and head of Business- and Agricultural Informatics Department. His professional areas are the following: agricultural farm planning, information and decision support systems, e-learning, e-applications in agriculture and business. He was responsible for many research projects and has more than 30 year experience of computer application in agriculture. The most important projects are: The regional information system for agribusiness and extension, the Hungarian animal database system, the Development of telecommunication system at Debrecen University, the GIS development project for education and research. He participated in more EU funded projects such as AMI@Netfood (FP6) and NODES (Socrates GRUNDTVIG) as contact person. Regarding to education he is responsible for many subject and he organized a lot of conferences on informatics in education and agricultural informatics. He has been the president of the Hungarian Association of Agricultural Informatics (HAAI) since 2002. He is/was member of some professional bodies (IEEE, Member of Supervisory Board of John von Neumann Computer Society, Member of European Federation of Information Technology for Agriculture (EFITA) Board). He is responsible of BSc and MSc training program in agricultural informatics at University of Debrecen. He is a core member of Doctoral School. He has more than 200 publications.
